Want to learn Spanish?
Congratulations, you have come to exactly the right
place!
This site is dedicated to helping English-speakers to learn conversational
Spanish. Once you can understand Spanish and make yourself understood; carry on a general
conversation in Spanish, you will have the basics and will be able to go as deeply or as broadly
into the language as you wish.
The hardest part is getting over that initial hurdle, to the point that it
all starts to make sense to you and come together in your ability to communicate. We can help
you get to that point in the easiest, fastest way.
Who am I and what do I know? Fair questions!
Jorge Chavez here, at your service. My mother was "una norteamericana" from
Virginia. My father was from Central America. I was born in Costa Rica, taken to the U.S. where I
grew up with my first cousins in my Uncle's household. I was educated only in English and did not
start to learn Spanish until after I was 30 years old.
So I too, was once exactly where you probably are right now -- speaking English
and wanting to speak Spanish too!
It took me years, trying all sorts of ways; classes, tutors, books, tapes and
just talking with friends and relatives in Spanish and begging them to correct me (most were too
polite to do so!). But now I am bilingual and can communicate well in either language.
Through my personal experiences I know a little about learning
Spanish, have some experiences, examples and observations to draw upon.
It took me years to stumble around and gradually, finally learn
Spanish!
It is my sincere desire to help you learn Spanish fast and easy and avoid
all the mistakes I made and the problems I had!
The best way to learn Spanish today (other than moving to a Spanish-speaking
country and hiring a local Spanish teacher as a tutor!) is through an interactive audio learning
course.
With this type of Spanish learning program you listen to audio recordings of
excellent native speakers, speaking slowly and clearly, and you interact with them. You start with
"repeat after me", go on to questions and answers and continue to interact vocally.
The advantages of this method of language-learning are:
You go at your own pace, not the pace of the class.
You can repeat each lesson as often as you like, until you have
mastered each to your satisfaction.
Lessons can be offloaded to your iPod or other portable audio
device. You can then take the lessons whenever and wherever you want to.
You buy your copy of the learning program, so it's yours.
You have it with you always, can brush up on lessons at any time (even on the plane to
Acapulco!) and you can hear the correct accent whenever you choose.
With downloadable materials you can get started with lessons
only minutes after you purchase the course.
Since the costs of printing, shipping, handling, etc. are
saved, the cost of this type of course is much less than what you would pay for classroom
instruction.
I have checked out and assembled a number of excellent interactive audio
courses to help you learn Spanish, fast and easy.
